Il 23 maggio 1992 la vettura su cui viaggiavano Giovanni Falcone, la moglie Francesca Morvillo e gli uomini della scorta (Rocco Dicillo, Antonio Montinaro e Vito Schifani) saltò in aria uccidendoli tutti.
