What Are the Different Types of Hoisting Systems?
While the wire rope hoist is the most common, there are variations in hoisting systems for tower crane hoist mechanisms:
Single-Drum Hoist:
l This is the most basic type.
l A single drum winds or unwinds a single wire rope.
l It's suitable for general lifting tasks.
Double-Drum Hoist:
l This system uses two drums and two separate wire ropes.
l This allows for independent control of two ropes, enabling more precise positioning of the load.
l It's often used for complex lifting operations.
Variable Speed Hoist:
l These hoists allow for continuous adjustment of lifting speed.
l They are particularly useful for delicate operations where precise control over the load is crucial.
Luffing Jib Cranes:
l While not strictly a hoisting system variation, luffing jib cranes have a unique hoisting mechanism.
l The length of the jib (the horizontal arm) can be adjusted, changing the angle and effectively altering the hoisting height.
