Pensavo di cambiare la mia vecchia Chevrolet st.wagon con una auto moderna, ma a parte i costi esagerati ho constatato una serie di problemi delle auto odierne rispetto a quelle di venti anni fa in cui a mio parere avevano raggiunto la perfezione tra funzionalità ed eleganza. 1) MISURE. Auto sempre più larghe ma i nostri box sono rimasti quelli di 50 anni fa quando la Giulia era 160 cm, la R4 150, e la 500 140. Oggi anche le piccole utilitarie sono, a parte alcune, sopra i 170 con specchietti che non si chiudono completamente e arriviamo a 180. Troppo. Con le porte di 2 metri entrare e uscire è sempre un patema. 2) INTERNI CLAUSTROFOBICI, lussuosi ma non comodi. Provate a salire o scendere dalla parte del passeggero se non potete scendere a sinistra per qualunque motivo. Altro pericolo di incidenti gravi nelle rotonde che hanno precedenza a sinistra. 5) POCO SPAZIO, grandi fuori, piccole dentro. Ho visto auto enormi con bagagliaio ridicolo, sedili di spessore esagerato, linea di cintura altissima per i passeggeri che restano chiusi dentro e con i poggiatesta alla fine non vedono nulla. 6) DISTRAZIONI, troppe distrazioni e segnali sonori. Salito su una giapponese di un amico nuova era un continuo bip e bep e rumori strani di segnalazioni e avvisi. Ok, ma siamo uomini o caporali? Allora fatevi la vostra guida autonoma e sia finita. Poi schermi giganti, comandi digitali, sistemi automatici, e diavolerie di ogni tipo.
